Overview

About CIU

Caucasus International University (CIU) is a private university at 73 Chargali Street in Tbilisi, founded in 1995. Its faculties include Medicine, Business and Technology, Law, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Viticulture and Winemaking, and its students come from countries including India, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey and across Europe.

CIU publishes a clear international fee list: Medicine (six years, US$6,000 a year), Dentistry (five years, US$5,000), Information Technology and Business Administration Bachelor's programmes (US$3,500) and a Master's in Global Policy and Security Studies (US$3,000). A Bachelor's in Nursing is also listed in English.

Why students choose CIU

Clinical skills centre with simulators
CIU's catalogue lists a dedicated Clinical Skills Center with manikins for childbirth, neonatal and adult resuscitation, auscultation and injection practice, plus stations for OSCE and OSPE exams.
Accredited medicine and dentistry in English
CIU's accreditation page lists Medicine in English and Dentistry in English as accredited. NCEQE's April 2023 MD list shows the English MD valid to 31 December 2027, and its register shows a positive decision on English Dentistry valid to 14 February 2031. CIU says it received its third consecutive institutional authorization in 2024.
Dental clinics on site
Dental chairs and a university teaching clinic are part of the campus, so dental students can practise on patients in the later stages of training.
Published fee list
Tuition for every English programme is listed on CIU's international students page and repeated in its FAQ.
Virtual campus tour
CIU publishes a 360-degree walkthrough of its buildings, laboratories, library and dining hall so you can see the facilities before you apply.

Accommodation

Where CIU students live

CIU announced plans for an international-student dormitory, but its current official pages do not confirm on-campus accommodation. Most international students rent shared apartments in Tbilisi. Ask for current housing arrangements in writing.

Lifestyle

Student life in Tbilisi

Tbilisi is Georgia's capital and by far its largest city, with over a million residents. Most of the country's English-taught medical, dental and business programmes are based here, so it has the biggest international student community, the widest choice of housing and the best-connected hospitals.

Around CIU

CIU runs a cafeteria with about 300 seats and a co-working space, and the student body includes learners from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, which gives the campus a mixed international feel.

The campus is on Chargali Street in the city. Check the walking route and local transport before you commit to an apartment, because rents change noticeably between districts.

Getting around
A two-line metro, buses and shared minibuses cover most of the city. A single ride costs about 1 lari and a monthly pass is typically 40-50 lari, so most students never need a car. Ride-hailing apps such as Bolt and Yandex Go are widely used for late-night trips.
Climate
Hot summers, cold winters with occasional snow, and mild spring and autumn. Student housing is centrally heated or gas-heated, so pack a proper winter coat rather than thermal layers.
Food and daily costs
Georgian staples such as khachapuri, khinkali and lobio are inexpensive, and supermarkets and open-air markets sell everyday groceries cheaply. Vegetarian options are easy to find because fasting traditions mean most restaurants offer meat-free dishes. South Asian restaurants and grocers have opened in the city.
Safety and community
Georgia is widely regarded as a safe country for students, with the usual city precautions applying at night and in crowded places. Tbilisi has a large international student community, which makes settling in much easier in the first semester.

Ask CIU for its current accreditation decision and the deficit follow-up in writing, check eqe.ge, and for Nepal check Nepal Medical Council rules.
  • Confirm in writing whether a dormitory is available for your intake.
  • Ask about the Nursing programme's duration and fee, which are not on the English fee list.
